Continuing Education

New Mexico Crisis Counseling offers certified continuing education credits for mental health professionals. Our programs can be delivered online or in-person. Informed by contemporary evidence based practice, lived experience, and field-tested strategies, this series of courses shifts assessment from procedural to personal—equipping clinicians to meet clients with courage, curiosity, and compassion. Trainings include:

  • Private Practice Clients in Crisis: Increase confidence, reduce fear, and provide more effective care for those at risk.
You will leave this training with a foundational knowledge of how to develop a suicide risk protocol for screening, assessing and managing risk, providing immediate support, and connecting individuals to ongoing care.
  • Beyond the Checklist: A Relational Approach to Suicide Risk Assessment: This engaging training empowers clinicians to approach suicide risk with relational depth, cultural responsiveness, and ethical clarity. Participants will learn to recognize the meaning and function behind suicidal thoughts—while also managing their own emotional responses to risk.
  • Documentation & Liability Reduction: Learn best practices for accurate and thorough documentation, risk management strategies, and ethical considerations in clinical practice.
  • Supervising Therapists Working with Suicidal Clients: Learn how to provide effective supervision and support to therapists working with suicidal clients, including risk assessment, case consultation, and clinical supervision.
